A Hero in My Eyes - Visitor's Story

Justin was an inspiration to many people. He was always happy and never went a day without playing his guitar. He welcomed you into his life with smiles.
Then one day it all ended with a phone call.
September 2008 he left... with no tears, nothing, I thought with no doubt that he would come back.
He was going to Afghanistan Kadahar. We hardly spoke as he was busy.
Christmas was coming soon but he was not coming home for Christmas. His HLTA ( 18 day leave ) was just before Christmas, he would have returned at the beginning of December.
Justin went out on patrol and he didn't return. An IED took his life, he was only 21. The news a friend, a family member or a spouse never wanted to hear. I felt hurt and felt that this wasn't true and selfishly thought, "What about my husband?"
My husband was over there with him, he was his best friend... Shortly after my husband called, he was crying so bad that I couldn't understand him. All I knew was my husband was his honour guard and was leaving with Justin tomorrow and would be with Justin until he's at rest.
Justin was our best friend. September 23rd Justin went to sleep, he is now at rest and will never be forgotten. I miss you so much and this was never to happen. Our son will always know you and you will be in our hearts forever.
RIP JUSTIN. Miss you.
