A New Day - Visitor's Poem
by Tyneshia L. Watkins
(Alabama, USA)
Sometimes when I'm alone I cry
I pinch myself and ask stupid questions like, Why? Lord why?
But in the end I know I'm only half the woman I could be
If I could only let go and forgive all my enemies
But easier said than done
It's hard to forgive the simplest one
When you're blinded by the past it's hard to look to the future
Even when it's staring you right in the face
You be so senseless to let something else take its place
With eyes wide shut and heart wide open
You long to hear the words that are almost never spoken
Dreaming of that white Pickett fence and cute little dog in the yard
You fight to understand why you were dealt the wrong cards
But the time to feel sorry was yesterday
And now all you have to look forward to is this New Day.
