Dad, As I Sit Here at Your Side......
Silence is every where and I have but within me to hide
Many memories come to mind now
We survived them all although we do not know how
Memories run through my mind time after time
Those sad moments should erase
but they come because they are mine
How did we have the strength to move and still remain strong?
Why did so many things go so wrong?
Searching, reflecting, wondering why us
Why couldn't we have the life of someone famous?
Why was it us time after time that was let down
Some times I smile about the good times
but sometimes all I do is sadly frown
Coming over the border seemed like the best thing to do
We were together, mom dad and us two
Barriers were present since the day we set foot on this land
Thank God for those who never hesitated to give us a helping hand
Time passes and we learned a new way to talk
But darkness came upon our soles as time began the walk
It was no longer one great American dream
It was a sad future we had in that shining light beam
What happened to a great family?
What happened to together for eternity?
First were those moments alone
At times we wondered why we were born
We came to this land with a dream of being someone
Instead we wondered what we had done
Growing up was rough
People all this time thought we were tough
Walking to an American school was full of unwanted memories
The treatment we got was not a please
Year after year we grew in so many ways
But the main thing we needed was support
and the education for days and days
Yes we learned a lot
But happiness was a not
Our color was different from others
It was just like our fathers
Tripping and pushing and teasing is what it consisted of
We prayed for guidance from the one above
He carried us all those years
Although our days shadowed us with tears
We started growing at our mother's side
Many times we had no where to hide.
One Hispanic to another
We stood like brother to brother
Family was our weak point
God why did we not receive your anoint
We needed a father to guide us
Instead we were robbed of some one we needed without a fuss
We needed his love and another
Instead we had a family like no other
Full of loneliness night and day
We longed for him and we pray
Our mother was not the only one in his life
Instead he back stabbed her with a knife
A double life did he lead
Throughout those times we were in need
Short moments is all we saw of him
Our child hood was so grim
That other lady came and took him like a robber in disguise
Didn't you know that you made him live a life full of lies?
We needed him dear lady
Instead you took him and made our lives shady
Our friends often wondered if we had a life of a single home
We took steps into life and felt we had to roam
Meals should have been a time to unite
Instead we only saw him during the day and not at night
You took him from our side for one thing
You never had something to bond you like a ring
Looking back at those days of sadness
Sadness comes to our past and not happiness
You had our future to ruin
We always wonder of what could have been
You hurt us then, you hurt us now
The day came when your one wish came true
We left him and he belonged to you
We separated into the darkness of the night
We were on a journey into a new flight
All those years you kept him in your life for all the wrong reasons
Now who are you pleasing?
Not him not us not anyone
Now he needs you and sympathy is something you have none
He is here lying in bed
We the ones loving him instead
Forgiveness came into our hearts for him
You are in your own world making his world dim
You show no care or love
He is the one who will judge you when you look above
He hurts like a baby
Who ever thought you would not look so lovely
Some day you will pay
You will see your world going astray
We look back at all of what we need and pray
We pray you will realize what you did was oh so wrong
As a family we will show you we are strong
We will pick up the pieces you have torn
God will show us why we were born
You have left his side like a robber in the night
Hang on because your future will like a fight
When you are on your own and lonely
You will see that you were nothing but a phony
That disguise you wore will be ripped from your face
You will wish you disappeared without a trace
You will want forgiveness to come to your heart
But now it is too late because you are chose to part
You closed your heart didn't help when he needed you
He will see what we told him was true
You never cared, you never will
On a warm lighted night all you will feel is a chill
Nothing to guide you into the light
No one will be there for you to hang on tight
Loneliness is all you'll get
I promise you and that I will bet
Will God give you what you need to move on?
All that hurt you made us go through will soon be gone
He will see we were his life and he will be grateful
And realize since the beginning we were special
He'll know we continued to love him no matter what
It will be you who will be stuck in a rut
God will bond us together
It will be us who will stick together forever
You will miss him and wish you should have stayed
Like I said we continued and we prayed
With a life full of emptiness and sadness
But we survived it all thank goodness
Now good bye to you and leave alone
We are glad we were born
