Giving

My heart told me
I had to be
The missing link
To plant big trees

The link we lost
As perfect beings
Through time and space
Through selfish doings

I had to give
The perfect gift
No lover’s greed
The self to feed

No selfish thoughts
Or selfish deeds
Just giving all
Inside God’s seed

I tried and failed
And failed and tried
To rise up higher
Above this power

That pulled me down
Each time I tried
To plant this seed
My soul desired

My heart cried out
My soul got torn
I can’t do this
I can’t conform

To perfect giving
From perfect soul
YOUR heart’s desire
Not my own

My mind got still
My feet got tired
It’s not my path
This deep desire

I do not have
The perfect mind
And perfect soul
To plant the seed
To make man whole

I try each day
And fail and try
Planting seeds
In the here and now

How will they grow?
Where’s the desires
To grow big trees
In all this mire

Trees that will bud
And grow new seeds
Seeds that will sprout
And grow big trees
