Distance Relationship - Visitor's Love Poem

by Abed Masinga
(Somerset, South Africa )

I built it for you,
a tower that is taller than other towers,
a tower taller than Mount Alp Hens,
a land for no evil.

I am building it for you,
been building it since I was 8,
with the hope you will see it,
see the beacon shining at midnight.

During the night I light the beacon,
with hope for your guidance,
instead of you,
the wolf and the serpent,
were guided to me through the light,

The vulture soars above my beacon.
If I see an angel I always thought of you.
Should I keep burning the beacon?
Looking upon south cumulonimbus been formed,
shifting toward my side,
I am afraid it might switch off our beacon.

And tower becoming more slippery,
as fig tree after rain.
How many miles left before you grace me?
I am hearing your thin voice.
I will stay the course and never quit!

Love Separated by Miles
by: Fion

Abed, thanks very much for your lovely contribution. You paint a very nice imagery of long-distance relationship fraught with uncertainties, obstacles and longings. And the commitment needed to ensure the success of such a love.
