Just Be - Poem

by Marie Farrell
(Wicklow, Ireland)

I feel so empty now
a wager I have taken on
it disturbs the look upon my face.
On the outside my smiling shield guards the troubled heart
but on the inside -
there is a difference you know
when you're down and you don't know what's happening
the traits of depression are confusing and threatening
but when you know what's going on
you don't react
you're quiet and still, patiently waiting for the next move
here sits the dark seat of the soul
so quiet within and lonely without
uninterrupted by time
a space for miracles
a place to just be...

Something to think about

Thanks Marie for your contribution! Yours is a poem that requires a second or third reading to have a better grasp of the deeper meaning of your words. Great choice of image to complement the mood of your poem!
