On This Wedding Day - Visitor's Poem
by Catherine Martin
(Eckington, Sheffield, UK)
Well my child you're all grown up now and my days of being a mummy are over. I protected you for as long as I could and now the day has come that I hand you over to my new son-in-law, to take up that duty to love you, protect you, help and guide you through all your lives together. I held you in my arms as a baby and I prayed you would grow to be kind and loving and that you would one day know what love felt like. I promised you I would be the best mum I could be. I tried my best, and I hope I haven't let you down. I want to thank you for every moment I had with you. I will cherish the memories forever. So go forward now, and as you embark on this new chapter remember how much you are loved. I may not be a mummy anymore, but I will always be proud to be your mother.
