Thank God for Time - Visitor's Poem
by Jamie J. Robinson
(Syracuse, NY, USA)
The black child is now called by his name his skin no longer defines him
The people’s eyes have now opened and the horizon is gorgeous
Rainbows are forming in mothers' wombs, adding to God's kaleidoscope
America is a new melting pot where sweet love is being stewed amongst the bitter hate
The hate is boiling off the top of the broth
We have waited such a long time for this meal
A union has been agreed upon to survive together the best way we can
We all face very similar challenges because it wills us to uplift one another
I stand satisfied with what time has birthed before us
So fortunate are we to live in a realm of such freedom
Some countries still view a grain of rice as the power of gold
I scrape the grains in the trash I could not finish at dinner
I dream of that day the world lives in abundance
I thank God for what and where time has brought us
I thank time for always being there, ready to change
