The Good Old Days - Visitor's Poem

by Holly Teegan Moir
(Palmerston, Otago, New Zealand)

well we met when we were young,
we didn't do much that wasn't fun.
you me and him didn't hang out often,
although when we did it has never been forgotten.
Liz and Greg's house was the place to be,
those so called fun things you were doing to me,
nothing yucky of course,
pushing me off beds,
and telling me shhh.
hadn't talked in ages and years,
we started to chat while you had one or two beers,
2010 - Otamatata at new years.
poor gas cooker, don't think it had ever been used,
you turned on the gas and let out all the fuse.
now it's gone back to us not talking for years,
but when I'm the age to drink we will catch up
and down a few beers.
