Waiting For The Right Moment - Visitor's Poem
by Abed Masinga
(Somerset Village, South Africa)
Like a fisher eagle in the river bombatana
Bouncing up into the sky, flapping its wings, trying to find balance
All eyes glaring at the deep water
Yearning to have fish
With hope for catching fish without bait
With baby seal splashing in the water
Shoal of fish gallivanting at bank of the river
With the river birds singing harmony melodies as Swiss missionary
Singing same tune with breezes of the river
With gentle waves hitting the banks of river as drums
Water fowl teaching chick how to swim
An eagle which is not compromising its appetite
Glancing into deep water, hoping barbus viviparous to swim to the upper surface
Clouds of doubt and hesitation hovering over me
What if, it's not gone gallivanting to the upper surface
Should be a vulture for the day and have plenty to eat
And lure the water fowl
Should deny my philosophy because of short term pleasure
Aim continuing to soar and wait for the perfect moment
My sun is rising up with strong radiance
All things in the heart of the river will steam up
I will cease the moment
As for now I must wait for the perfect moment
