Rain - Visitor's Poem

by Patty Nickels
(Urbana, OH, USA)

this rain that falls
onto our heads
and into our mouths
as we stare up into the sky
searching for the answers
that will never be told
spreading our arms
to embrace the cold
that soaks through to our bones
our bodies go numb
as we try to feel
the things this world
does not supply us
then darkness consumes us
as we lie here still
trying to discover ourselves
