The Amphibians - Visitor's Poem

by Ademola Adejumo
(Nertherlands)

The frogs like to hear their own sounds
in the muddy river,
it sounds like million drummers,
all sounding their hollow drums
at furious rate,
I sit on my sailing boat,
allowing myself to be engulfed by
the deafening jingle of these
tiny long necked amphibians.
The sound builds up and fades,
rises and descending in concert
directed by the toad,
the choir mistress.
