The End - Visitor's Letting Go Poem

by Aryn Nantau
(Lakeshore, Ontario, Canada)

I have hurt you and burden myself for that,
Intentions were not my best if you want the truth.
In your eyes I don't care, and it's easier that way.
It's easier to keep you at an arm's length.
It's easier to keep you far away from my heart.
Don't grieve over me, or wish I were by your side.
I'm not worth it. Don't shed one tear over me,
for I wouldn't shed a tear for you. Not one.
Don't hold onto me, let me go.
Though as I walk away don't think for a minute that
I'm not doing all that I can to keep myself from looking back.
